Mini Golf Update

Libertee Grounds was in the Girard area for a long time, running off a homebuilt 9 hole minigolf course and offering food and drink. They’d done well for a while and long enough that they were able to purchase an upstairs area to expand to a back 9!

Originally Libertee Grounds was working with another manufacturer who was designing their courses. However, Libertee Grounds wasn’t happy with the designs that were coming from them, and even less happy when they said it would take 9 months to deliver the courses when they needed it in 3!

Libertee Grounds then approached us for some fresh ideas and to see if we could meet their November move-in date.

Focusing Efforts

Since time was tight, we worked directly with Libertee Grounds to identify which holes needed the most care. The mini-golf was meant to be Philly theme with a bit of a tongue-in-cheek attitude. Many felt disconnected and out of touch with the Philly vibe. Some just needed a few additional details, while others needed a total rework.

Below are a collection of the sketch development for each concept. Pacing was fast, so there was little time for more developed renders.

The boathouse row sketches would be passed on for this addition, but reused to replace the similar hole downstairs.

Production Design

With final designs selected in just 2 weeks time, we quickly moved onto the lion’s share of the work which was developing the assembly method so that anyone would be able to manage putting together the holes since we’d need all-hands on deck to finish on time.

Assembly and First Putt

Assembly went faster than anyone could have imagined so there are no real pictures from the process, but everything was installed and Libertee Grounds was launched with a banner opening for their new space. If you’re near 16th and Girard, swing by for tee-off time yourself!
