TerraCycle Made
Beginning with the creation of 8 tons of pellets of collected TerraCycle waste, a TC first, we wanted a way to capitalize on this new resource. Our idea was to create a line of purchasable products made from this recycled plastic that would be durable, reusable, and responsible with an end of life plan, if it did come to that.
Beginning with a set of 6 products for the first launch during the 2021 holiday season, this project is only at its beginnings. I managed the project through sourcing, vendor vetting, sample testing, and production management. And the best is yet to come.
The Frisbee and Bracelets were created specifically for the TerraCycle Global Foundation which helps remove plastic from rivers before reaching the ocean. All proceeds for these items go right back to the TCGF.
Simple items like the flower pot or storage boxes were designed to be more giftable for the holiday season to help spread the idea and use of durable, recycled plastic products around.
Some items were designed to be more functional and fit in with a typical eco-consumer’s lifestyle, such as the wireless chargers or compost bin. The wireless chargers were designed in tandem with a company in the UK who is also pioneering their own line of zero waste products, and the charger includes recycled electronic components.
